Hands-On Excitement for your Classroom!

The Field Museum's Harris Educational Loan Program is now easily accessible for University students, faculty and alumni at the NLU Lisle Campus Library!  

The Harris Educational Loan Program has been serving the Chicago area for over 90 years, and the experience boxes are a treasure trove of teaching materials.  The collection is continually updated and expanded to meet current needs. The materials are readily available and cover many different topics. The collection is suitable for all age groups.

At the NLU Lisle Campus we offer many different experience boxes.  The boxes cover numerous topics which come in the form of portable displays combining artifacts, replicas, specimens, audiovisuals, activities, teacher's guides and resource books to provide a variety of learning experiences.  There are three content categories:  anthropology (culture), biology (plants and animals) and earth science (dinosaurs, fossils, rocks and minerals).

Important Information

• NLU students, faculty and alumni must become a registered borrower with the Field Museum's Harris Education Loan program to check out the experience boxes (www.fieldmuseum.org/harrisloan). The discounted $30.00 annual registration fee for NLU students and faculty is payable to the Field Museum.  Group discounts are available.
  
  
• Experience boxes must be reserved five days prior to check-out. They may be checked out for one, two or three weeks except during the quarter break.  
  
  
• Only one box can be checked out at a time.
  
  
• They are only available for check-out and return at the Lisle Campus Library during regular library hours.  For hours, visit the NLU Library Web site (www.nl.edu/library).
